Launch of Australian-first fund to boost voluntary carbon market in Australia and create rural jobs

The Reducing Carbon Building Communities Fund will be launched at the Carbon Market Institute Summit in Melbourne tomorrow(Wednesday).

The Australian-first Fund will connect corporate Australia to Australian carbon farming projects with environmental, social and/or cultural values, including Indigenous savanna burning projects.

WHO:
  • Rowan Foley, who has founded the Fund, and other Indigenous rangers from Northern Australia
  • Dr Marcia Langton, Fund Board member, who has long called for recognition of traditional Indigenous land management
  • Lawyer Martijn Wilder AM, head of Baker McKenzie’s Global Environmental Markets and Climate Change practice, who is involved in the Fund’s establishment

The launch will be followed by a speech by Minister Frydenberg at the Summit.
