Introducing RenewEconomy’s new electric vehicle website: TheDriven.io

Today we are proud to introduce RenewEconomy’s new website focusing on electric vehicles, and the transition to zero carbon transport – TheDriven.io

Whether you are merely curious about EVs, just love to drive them, are an EV nerd, or want to keep up with the news and analysis about new models, government policy and developments in the charging space, we hope that this new website is for you.

TheDriven.io is a joint venture between RenewEconomy – Australia’s leading website on renewables, storage and climate policy – and private investors.

We are launching it now because we are on the verge on an extraordinary shift in our transport options and choices. Car companies are  ready to roll out new EV models in Australia, and policy makers are grappling with what they should do.

But more than that, we know from our experience on RenewEconomy that the appetite from readers for EV news is huge, and growing. Please click here To sign up for The Driven newsletter.

TheDriven.io will not replace RenewEconomy’s coverage of EVs, but it will complement and augment it.

There is so much to write about, and too much interest from readers, to adequately cover the electric transport sector on a website primarily focused mostly on the clean energy transition. And we know that there is so much to write about there, particularly given the recent political events.

That’s why we have created TheDriven.io.

Why the name … TheDriven. We had some big discussions about this – should we go with a garden variety EV something news, or something a bit more evocative, and aspirational. We went for the latter.

As you can see from the main sections of this new website, we are going to focus on news about electric vehicles, charging, fuel cells, and other forms of clean transport.

We will include a Models section that will provide news, analysis, reviews, specifications and information about every model available in Australia.

We will have stories about EV road-trips, conversions of petrol cars to electric, and interviews. We invite all readers to contribute their own story.

We have an FAQ section, answering the common and the more complex questions about EVs, PHEVs, HEVs, BEVs, FCEVs, and helping unlock the mysteries of charging.

And we will deliver a weekly podcast – a combination of interviews with some of the key people in the EV transition, and news of the week. You can find the first The Driven podcast here – an interview with California-based futurist Tony Seba, talking about his predictions that new car sales from 2025 will be electric only.

You can sign up for the free EV-focused newsletter here. At first, we will send it out twice a week, but we expect to increase that as our resources grow.

We do hope you enjoy The Driven.io, and we would love your feedback about how we can make the new site better.
