Major structural components for the Warradarge Wind Farm have begun their journey to site, marking an important milestone in the project.
The first of the turbine parts for Bright Energy Investment’s (BEI) project will be moved from the Henderson Australian Marine Complex to the wind farm site near Eneabba.
A total of 153 turbine blades, 153 tower sections and 51 turbine nacelles will be trucked up north over the next few months.
While all the components are large loads, the 66-metre long blades, some of the largest in Australia, will require special handling during transportation.
To minimise road delays, transportation will be carried out at night and will take around 6 hours to reach Warradarge.
The transportation has been arranged in consultation with Main Roads WA and local authorities to ensure that the safety and convenience of other road users has been taken into consideration.
General Manager of BEI, Mr Tom Frood said he was delighted to see the major components on their way to the construction site.
“This is a major milestone for Bright Energy Investments which remains on track for planned first energy around the start of the fourth quarter of 2020,” Mr Frood said.

To date around 27 out of a total of 51 foundations have been poured ready to receive the wind turbines.
International wind-farm manufacturer Vestas is supplying the turbines and civil works on the turbine foundations and balance of plant is being carried out by their subcontractor Decmil.
Each wind turbine tower will be assembled out of three sections. The turbine nacelle placed atop the towers will have a hub height of 84 metres.
When the Warradarge Wind Farm is complete it will generate enough renewable energy to supply the equivalent of 148,500 Western Australian homes.
