Suntrix Wins 2018 NECA-SA excellence award for Australia’s biggest floating solar system

PRESS RELEASE

At a glittering awards ceremony at the Adelaide Convention Centre Friday night, SA-owned Suntrix won a NECA Excellence Award for its 100kW floating solar system at East Lismore’s Sewage Treatment Plant.

The project took out the Energy Efficiency and Environment category for its innovative solution to reducing electricity consumption at a site with limited land and roof space. Taking to the water, Suntrix designed andconstructed Australia’s largest solar island based on modular, purpose-built float technology. Consisting of 280 solar panels and 1200 floatation devices, the system will produce around 11% of the site energy needs with a saving of $24,000 per annum.

From concept to realization, Suntrix’s Chief Project Geoff Fussell, spearheaded the project that culminated in a thrilling one-week build, launch and anchor.

“The project is evidence of Suntrix’s influence on design, product development, technology and innovation. It typifies what Suntrix enjoys most – partnering with its clients to deliver high yield, bespoke solarsolutions.”

Managing Director, Jenny Paradiso adds: “This award recognises our expertise in adapting existing modular floating solar technology for large scale renewable energy applications in Australia. We look forward to bringing this innovative renewable energy solution to the broader water utility and irrigation industry.”

Suntrix will now go on to the NECA National Awards which will be announced in Sydney later in the year.
