Fully Charged “festival of electrification” to debut in Australia, supported by RenewEconomy

The hugely popular Fully Charged Live “festival of electrification” is to make its debut in Australia early next year, with a Sydney show scheduled for March and supported by The Driven and RenewEconomy.

Fully Charged has become an immensely popular YouTube show led by actor and EV enthusiast Robert Llewellyn, and in 2017 launched its first “live” show that has since expanded to Europe and north America.

Fully Charged is promising that its Live show in Sydney will include the biggest ever collection of electric vehicles in Australia, and the two day weekend event will include more than 40 “live sessions” – presentations and panel discussions – as well as opportunities to test drive the EVs.

The show is being supported by major sponsor NRMA, sustainability partner Polestar, with The Driven and its parent site RenewEconomy acting as media partners.

“As someone who has family in Australia, I am familiar with its politics, and its potential, one of which has often been in conflict with the other,” Llewellyn said in a statement.

“Under new leadership it’s our hope that Australia can fulfil that potential and take advantage of a once in a century opportunity to become a clean energy superpower.

“As an inhabitant of a damp island off the shores of Northern Europe we can only marvel at Australia’s abundant resources. Whether it’s solar power in a country with so much sunshine, wind power in a country where so much of the population lives close to the coast, or in the materials and minerals under its feet, Australia is perfectly positioned.

“Furthermore, through our interactions on YouTube and social media, we can see that our Australian audience has been starved of electric vehicles, and we hope to help.”

Fully Charged is expecting to attract more than 100,000 attendees across six events planned for 2023, starting in Sydney and then extending to the UK, Canada, the US, and Europe. It expects more than 10,000 people to attend the show at the ICC centre in Sydney.

The program will include its Watt Drive test drive programme, Home Energy Advice Team, Electric Alley, Electric Launchpad and an exhibition of the latest clean energy technologies and electric vehicles.

Fully Charged CEO Dan Caesar says the company had planned to launch earlier in Australia, but was thwarted by the Covid pandemic.

“We are fortunate to receive around 4 million views globally on YouTube every month, and London, Sydney and Melbourne are amongst our top 3 cities, with Brisbane in 6th and Perth in 12th,” he said.

“We have been able to attract huge consumer audiences wherever Fully Charged Live is held and we’re confident that the Sydney event will be very successful.”
