BNEF says NEG could deliver 42% renewables by 2030, same as Finkel
BNEF say new Coalition plan could see 42% renewables by 2030, the same as Finkel. But rooftop solar will account for most new installations, and large-scale wind and solar could be sidelined by coal extensions. Still, BNEF describe it as innovative and elegant.

Stunning tipping points mean coal will never be great again
The global energy industry is experiencing two major tipping points for wind and solar that means that coal will never be great again, no matter how much Conservative politicians and columnists may wish it to be so.

Why grid based battery storage is already a no-brainer in Australia
BNEF says grid-based battery storage already very much in the money in Australia. It is a stunning cost fall that has caused AGL to reassess the future and join the CSIRO and the network owners in talking about 100 per cent renewable energy scenarios by 2030.

Tesla, Mexican solar PV the stars of Q1 clean energy investment
A 754MW solar PV plant in Villanueva and Tesla’s stockmarket manoeuvres help drive a “tepid” Q1 of clean energy investment, says BNEF.

“Clean coal” most expensive new power supply, says BNEF (and not all that clean)
BNEF report latest to debunk Coalition clean coal plans, finding it to be super expensive, and not very clean (unless you add CCS, and then its ultra-super expensive). As for Turnbull’s argument that our grid needs more baseload…
