Renewable Energy Heads to the Harbour

PRESS RELEASE

Sydney – Thursday 20 June 2019

A small group within renewable energy industry have set up an inaugural event, for those involved in the sector, as well as its supporters. The Renewable Energy Cup Yacht Race has been scheduled for Friday 18 October, at Middle Harbour Yacht Club in Sydney. It aims to bring together the industry for a great day of sailing, food, drinks and fundraising for an extremely worthy cause.

The event is not-for-profit, with funds raised going to save endangered animals through the invaluable work of Donalea Patman’s AM, organisation – For the Love of Wildlife. Hamish Wall, Founder and Committee Member of the event describes Donalea’s organisation as “batting well above their weight.” He hopes that “if we can get behind her organisation, she can make a really positive impact against illegal wildlife trade and canned hunting.”

Hamish also emphasises the need for such an event for the sector by saying, “the industry doesn’t really have a fun outdoor event, and it’s time we got together and celebrated how far we’ve come. We want to make this an annual event for the industry and its supporters.” The event encourages companies to enter a team to compete, and the committee will arrange the skipper and yacht or they can bring their own. Hamish went on to say that “no sailing experience is needed, and it’s a great opportunity for team-building and to bring clients”.

The event organisers have so far received strong interest, but still need to lock in Gold and Silver sponsors, and encourage those that want to get involved to contact the committee as places are limited. KPMG and lawyers Pinsent Masons have already committed to support the event, while a number of entrants will be announced over the coming weeks.
