NSW Farmers ink solar deal to provide members with “reliable affordable” energy

A new deal linking Australia’s largest state farmer organisation with one of the nation’s leading commercial and industrial solar providers aims to help “future proof” the NSW agriculture industry – and pours water on claims that farmers and renewables don’t mix.

Sydney-based Smart Commercial Solar on Friday announced a new partnership with the NSW Farmers Association, having been selected as the preferred solar and storage supplier for the group’s 6,500+ members.

Smart Commercial Solar says it will use its expertise in agrivoltaics, the dual use of land for solar generation and farming, and in power purchase agreements (PPAs) to tailor cheap and sustainable energy solutions for farmers across the state.

NSW Farmers members will have the potential to access discounts on battery energy storage solutions and other advantages designed to make renewable energy more accessible and cost-effective.

“This partnership aligns with our core values of making power affordable for businesses who need it most” says the company’s executive general manager, Max Stenning.

“This collaboration allows us to deliver innovative energy solutions that empower farmers to achieve energy independence and resilience.”

Andrew Coughlan, NSW Farmers regional lead of membership and commercial says the collaboration with Smart Commercial Solar is about delivering “reliable and affordable energy options” to members.

“Their expertise and innovative approach make them an ideal partner for our community,” Coughlan says.
