MPower signs up Evergen to boost earnings from distributed solar and battery projects

Australian companies MPower and Evergen have announced a partnership which will integrate Evergen’s distributed energy optimisation technology into MPower’s clean energy portfolio.

Evergen’s technology will first be deployed at MPower’s Lakeland Solar & Storage project in North Queensland, a 10.8MW solar farm paired with a 1.4MW/5.3MWh lithium-ion battery storage facility.

The Evergen distributed energy optimisation platform will then be steadily rolled out across other MPower clean energy portfolio projects as they are constructed.

MPower says its projects will benefit from algorithms to optimise arbitrage opportunities against variable market-facing models, weather-based generation predictions, and other revenue sources as they are made available in the future.

Evergen managing director Ben Hutt said the deployment of his company’s technology at Lakeland and across MPower’s portfolio is a significant step, and will help boost the net earnings of its client.

Included on Evergen’s platform include trading services optimised FCAS (Frequency Control Ancillary Services) bid management, the process used by Australia’s energy market operator to balance system-wide frequency during sudden imbalances in supply and demand.
