Enova wins at the Green Globe Awards

Enova Energy has won “Best of the Best” Regional Sustainability Award at Green Globe Awards in Sydney.

The award recognises outstanding achievements of an organisation who has come up with an original and successful initiative in regional or rural areas of New South Wales.

Office of Environment and Heritage Chief Executive Anthony Lean said the varied projects awarded this year are helping ensure NSW builds the most sustainable future possible.

Of Enova Energy’s Award, Mr Lean said:

“Enova Community Energy is also breaking new ground with its inspiring business model which is maximising local job creation and recycling 50 per cent of its profits back into the community.

“I’m inspired by the pioneering projects and the dedicated people and organisations across our state who are committed to driving us towards a better future for our planet and the next generation.”

Byron Bay leads the way 

Stone & Wood were also awarded the Premier’s Award for Environmental Excellence.

“We are honoured by this award, which recognises the vision and achievements of Enova Community Energy to make renewable energy affordable and accessible to everyone. And we are delighted to stand alongside Stone & Wood Brewing Co,” says Managing Director of Enova Energy, Tony Pfeiffer.

About the Green Globe Awards 

An independent panel of sustainability experts selected this year’s winners. The Green Globe Awards are an initiative of the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage and recognise people and organisations committed to working on environmental sustainability – now and into the future. Awards were announced by the Hon Gabrielle Upton, Minister for the Environment, Local Government and Heritage at a gala event at the Art Gallery of NSW last night, October 19, 2017.

The Green Globe Awards are home to a community of established sustainability professionals and upcoming community influencers.

Win recognises Enova’s commitment to community 

“Winning a Green Globe Award means the world to Enova Energy’s customers, staff and our 1,200 community shareholders, and community partners who helped us create a positive social enterprise”, says Alison Crook, AO, Enova Energy.  “This is a real boost of recognition as we launch our first community solar garden to enable access to solar for people who can’t have it on their roof for any reason.”

“It also recognises and acknowledges the strength and viability of the vision to bring the power back to the grass roots of community” says Alison.

The Green Globe Awards are the NSW Government’s awards for leadership, commitment and innovation in sustainability. They showcase people and projects making real progress toward sustainability.
