New modelling shows renewable-based system cheaper than fossil fuels
New modelling shows an electricity system based on 85% renewable energy is cheaper than one based on similar percentage of fossil fuels. With wind and solar costs to fall, it is probable that 100% renewable energy is cheaper than coal and gas.

South Australia to set path towards 100% renewable energy
South Australia premier says 50% renewable energy target – set for 2025 – will be reached next year, and the government will now plan to reach as close to 100% renewables as it can. It says this involves risks, but also huge opportunities. He’d also like an electric vehicle manufacturer to set up in the state.
