SwitchedOn Podcast: 50,000 electric homes with batteries could replace a gas peaker plant

Mark Purcell

Mark Purcell has electrified three homes, and is now Deputy Chair of Zero Emissions Noosa in Queensland where he spreads the word to other householders about electrification and decarbonisation.

He’s now on a mission to get 50,000 households to electrify and install batteries – he’s calculated that this number of electric homes will mean one less gas peaker plant is needed during critical hours of peak demand.

Now fully committed to household electrification and decarbonisation, Mark didn’t start his own electrification journey for sustainability reasons.
