Sungrow’s ESS system – PowCube4.8 Launch

PRESS RELEASE

Sydney, Nov, 2017 – In accordance with the local market demand, Sungrow presents its residential energy storage system (ESS) – the PowCube4.8.

It is well known that the first turn of Feed-in tariffs incentive payment ceased at the end of 2016 and the current subsidy rate paid have largely decreased in compare to the previous one. In some region, rather than selling the solar power back to the grid for small return, the users found that it is more cost-effective to use the solar energy that is being generated.

In the meantime, the gap of electricity rate between peak and off-peak hours is increasing. Consumers do not wish to purchase electricity from the main gird during peak hours while export electricity during low peak hours. In correspondent to that, Sungrow introduces the PowCube4.8, an energy storage system which composed by 5Kw hybrid inverter and 4.8kWh battery, which can be purchased through appointed distributors. The new system enhances the PV electricity self-consumption rate and help cutting down on energy bills.

The PowCube 4.8 features an intelligent system through optimized EMS that characterizes customize battery usage scenarios and smart load control. The installation is simple and space saving, even for multiple batteries. Furthermore, Sungrow smart control allows remote system firmware update through Wi-Fi or Ethernet with just a click. Compatible with any single-phase solar grid-connected inverters, the PowCube 4.8 can also be retrofitted to an existing solar system and turn it into a solar energy storage system.

The battery is a new product designed and produced by Sungrow-Samsung SDI Energy Storage Power Supply Co. Ltd., a joint venture company of Sungrow and Samsung, using Samsung prismatic cells.

The battery achieves high safety and prolonged lifetime through multi-level protection battery system and smart hibernation technology. With over 95% depth of discharge, the usable capacity is maximized to the highest level. Moreover, Samsung cells provide high reliability and safety.

“Australia is one of the most dynamic energy storage markets in the world. With our 20 years of experience in renewable energy, we are now providing cutting-edge integrated ESS solutions for residential applications. We are determined to better meet the varied needs from our clients in Australia as well as anywhere else in the world,” said Prof. Renxian Cao, President of Sungrow.

Currently, Sungrow energy storage division has successfully deployed over 1.3GWh for more than 500 projects in countries like UK, Germany, North America, India, Japan, South Korea, South Sudan, Cambodia and China.
