Rooftop solar installs hit highest monthly level since July, 2015

Australia’s national solar PV market appears to be slowly rebounding, with rooftop solar installs in September 2016 reaching 66MW for the month, their highest level since July 2015, led by growth in the commercial market and particularly in South Australia.Screen Shot 2016-10-10 at 1.06.00 PM

As the latest charts from SunWiz show, solar PV volumes in September showed continued growth in the under 75kW range, as well as in the 4-6kW range.

State by state, PV registrations in NSW were found to have eased back a bit, while Victoria recovered pace. In Western Australia, growth “continued off a new base”, while South Australia remained “stable at levels it must be happy with,” said the SunWiz report.

As the chart below shows, commercial volume was “on the up” in both the smallest (10-20kW) and largest (>75kW) size classes.

This was led by growth in South Australia, where commercial acceleration is currently happening, according to Sunwiz, and Victoria, where commercial installs continue to grow.

The following chart highlights South Australia’s surge in 30+kW systems, as well as the return to small commercial in NSW. The WA marketing is also hotting up, but in the 30-100kW range.

Another noteworthy trend was in Australia’s PV imports, with the Philippines taking 7 per cent of the market share.

In the residential market, the average rooftop solar system size remained steady at 5.7kW.

I am not surprised. Like all technology, solar technology conforms to what is known as the Gartner Hype Cycle.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hype_cycle
Australia, having suffered the Trough of Disillusionment, is starting to climb the Slope of Enlightenment. With solar technology development now being driven hard all over the World (with perhaps, the exception of Australia) in no time, the Plateau of Productivity will be reached.
Politicians, take note, the Gartner Hype Cycle is bigger than you and has been proven correct time and time again. It is useless to resist.

Thats a fair bit of hype about a theory on hype.

Yep. Gartner have been doing this for the last 20 years and have proved astonishingly accurate
