LG Electronics unveils its first residential energy storage system

PRESS RELEASE

LG Electronics Australia, a leader in renewable energy technology, has today announced it will enter the rapidly growing residential energy storage solution (ESS) market with the unveiling of its first home battery at the All-Energy Expo at Melbourne’s Convention & Exhibition Centre.
The new ESS battery and inverter, expected to be available to the Australian market  from Q2 2019, joins the expanding LG portfolio of residential energy solutions. The new ESS includes an  LG 3 Phase Hybrid inverter. “Delivering high-quality energy solutions for homeowners is a top priority for us,” said Markus Lambert, General Manager Solar & Energy, LG Electronics Australia.
“The addition of the ESS to our energy portfolio will enable us to support Australian homeowners with a 3 phase electric power and their demand for greater control over their residential energy consumption.”
LG further announced its 2019 NeON®R and NeON®2 premium solar panels will receive a 5W boost to their already high efficiency. They will also introduce 370W & 380W made to order panels as well as new 400W 72 cell panels while maintaining its class leading 25 year warranty. “Residential dwellings are constantly evolving, just like homeowners’ energy needs,” said Mr Lambert.
“These higher efficiency panels will benefit homeowners with limited roof space, as well as those looking to deploy energy-intense technologies, like electric vehicle charging stations.”
Equipped with a smart energy management function, the ESS stores the excess energy produced by a home’s solar panels for use in periods when they are unable to produce energy, such a night time. This supports Australian homeowners by reducing their dependence on grid energy during peak energy consumption hours, when electricity rates can be at their highest.
The LG ESS battery & inverter can store energy for up to 12.8kWh with the pairing of an expandable 6.4kWh battery pack. The LG ESS battery & inverter will be covered by a 10 year product warranty in Australia.
Further information about the new LG ESS battery, inverter and solar panels can be obtained from the LG booth at the All-Energy Expo located at stand 1342.
