Goanna set to soak up the sun and put power back into the hands of Australian households

PRESS RELEASE

The introduction of a new solar battery will put Australians one step closer to achieving the dream of a $0 electricity bill. The first of its kind, the battery will provide an extremely affordable option for the 1.8 million Australian solar households by harnessing more of the power that they’re already generating.

Sunbank Solar, Australia’s largest solar battery installer, has exclusively partnered with Alpha ESS to launch in Australia the Goanna solar battery, delivering the lowest cost per kWh on the market.

Sunbank Solar’s co-founder and Head of Communications, Leon Siebel, said he was delighted to team up with Alpha ESS on the Goanna solar battery.

“This is a huge development for the future of solar in Australia,” he said. “Sunbank Solar have installed more solar batteries than anyone else in the country and have real evidence that by adding batteries to your system, you can finally achieve total energy independence.”

Dong Lin, Managing Director of Alpha ESS Australia commented, “We are thrilled to have exclusively partnered with Sunbank Solar on the launch of the Goanna solar battery in Australia. The Goanna battery is safe and durable with a great extent of flexibility and very easy to install. It is one of the most cost-effective solar batteries on the Australian market, paving the way for all Australians to access clean, reliable and cost-effective energy.”

The Goanna solar battery works to store energy generated from the peak period of the day, often when many Australians aren’t even home to use their power. It also means when excess energy is generated, it’s stored instead of being sent back into the grid for households to only have to resource later anyway.

With a storage capacity of up to 17.4kWh, the Goanna battery compares to current market leader Tesla Powerwall that stores 13.5kWh. This extra storage means households can run more appliances simultaneously and for longer.

The battery will retail for under $920 per kWh fully installed (including backup protection) when built out to 17.4kWh, making it the most cost effective fully installed solar battery solution in the Australian market.

Every Goanna battery installed includes a monitoring system which allows homeowners to track their usage and change their consumption behaviour to ensure they are using the power generated more conscientiously.

Sunbank Solar will be taking orders from today and installing the Goanna battery from February 2019. Households can register interest or make an enquiry by contacting 1300 28 29 30 or [email protected]

There are a range of finance options available for households who prefer to pay as they save.

To make the process as smooth as possible, it’s best to have your most recent electricity bill on hand when calling.

From there, Sunbank will send out a team to scope your property and book in the installation.
