ClearVue inks deal to supply solar glass to “fastest growing” global market

ASX-listed solar innovator ClearVue Technologies says it has cracked one of the world’s fastest-growing construction markets, in a deal that will see its clear solar glass products made and sold in the Middle East, North Africa and India.

ClearVue on Thursday announced a five-year manufacturing and distribution agreement Qatar’s largest facade engineering company and a group company under Aria Holding, called Aluminium Technology Auxiliary Industries, or Alutec.

Under the deal, Alutec will manufacture and distribute ClearVuePV Solar Vision Glass, a product that integrates solar technology into building façades. Alutec will also have the rights to distribute the ClearVue solar building envelope solutions.

The agreement notches up another big win for ClearVue, which debuted on the Australian stock exchange in 2018 and completed its first commercial demonstration in 2019 – a solar glass atrium at the entrance to a suburban Perth shopping centre.

A subsequent demonstration, a clear solar glass greenhouse installed in collaboration with Curtin University in Western Australia in 2021, showed the ClearVue’s technology to cut the facility’s energy use by roughly 40 per cent, compared to a conventionally glazed alternative.

Having had various successes overseas – including orders to supply a greenhouse at a high-profile eco-tourism and “wellness” project in Japan, and a commercial greenhouse outfit in the US – ClearVue secured its first licensee in Australia in January of this year.

The company says its agreement this week with Alutec, marks its “expansion into one of the world’s fastest-growing construction markets,” where demand for sustainable solutions and building integrated photovoltaics is growing rapidly.

“ClearVue offers the only high-energy clear solar vision glass on the market easily integrated into window manufacturing lines, helping building owners reduce carbon emissions while improving energy efficiency,” ClearVue global CEO Martin Deil said on Thursday.

“For the Middle East, Alutec is a prominent and well-respected leader in design, engineering, manufacturing, and installation for building envelopes.

“We see Alutec as a strategic partner and we will pursue opportunities to collaborate on projects where ClearVue products offer substantial value.”

John Douglas, Alutec’s pre-construction director says governments across the Middle East are investing heavily in sustainable energy solutions, while India is also a key focus of the company’s expansion plans.

“We are currently setting up manufacturing and distribution facilities in India, and we see ClearVue as a key part of those plans as we expand into that region.

“ClearVue’s technology uniquely provides our construction sector the technological tools needed to transform each individual building into a mini renewable energy hub – a remarkable achievement and one that will help our clients meet their energy needs and ‘net-zero’ goals.

“As part of Aria Holding, we bring additional resources and strategic support to this innovative partnership,” Douglas said.
