A 19-year-old wind technician from Wyoming has tragically fallen to his death while working on a wind turbine near the town of Medicine Bow.
Liam Cobb, from Douglas, Wyoming, graduated high school in 2024 and had gone straight to work as a wind turbine technician, a job that stemmed from what his aunt described as a strong desire to learn how things worked.
Little is known about the manner of his death, but it would appear that the wind turbine in question was located at the small 6 MW Medicine Bow Wind Farm in Carbon County, Wyoming.
According to the wind farm’s owner, Skyline Renewables, which acquired the farm in 2019, it consists of nine repowered Vestas wind turbines and is one of the very first repowered wind farms in the United States.
According to what appears to be his LinkedIn account, Liam Cobb worked for German robotics firm Kuka. Anna Cobb, speaking to local outlet Cowboy State Daily, said that she would always remember Liam’s curiosity for how all things worked.
