Large-scale solar and wind farms generated 3,588GWh over the month of November, almost 20 per cent more than in November 2021, according to the latest data from Rystad Energy senior renewables analyst David Dixon.
Dixon says it was “a subdued month” for wind power, although wind assets still contributed the lion’s share of the above total, with 2,343GWh.
Leading the stakes of best performing utility wind assets for the month is the Kiata wind farm in Victoria, a regular star performer, with a capacity factor of 47.8% in November. The Atmos Renewables owned project topped the charts in September, too, with the same number.
Next best performers for November were Foresight Group’s Mumbida wind farm in Western Australia (45.5% CF) and the Neoen /Atmos Renewables Hornsdale stage 1 wind farm (44.3% CF) in South Australia.
(Hornsdale stages 2 and 3 also make appearances, at 6th and 10th spot, respectively.)
Across the top 10, nine of the best performing wind projects were in either Victoria, SA or WA, with just one in New South Wales and no representation from Queensland.
