The mismatch in current demand charge-based network tariffs
Current cost-reflective tariffs drive a significantly lower reduction in network peaks than in customer peaks.

Real world caveats to electricity network tariff design
Real world caveats transform a demand charge into an Averaged Critical Peak Price tariff, that targets the households’ average demand – preceding and including the times of the network peaks.

Cost-reflective tariffs will do little to reduce network costs
So called ‘cost-reflective’ tariffs proposed by networks may accelerate uptake of battery storage. But they are targeting household peaks and not network peaks, so may not be cost refletive at all, and may not cut network spending.
