Tetris Energy secures PPA for 5MW solar and battery project in South Australia

Published by

Another large-scale solar and battery storage project is in the works for South Australia, in this case a 5MW PV farm proposed by Melbourne company Tetris Energy for the Murray River town of Mannum.

The project, which was put to the Mid-Murray Council in April of this year, proposes to install 24,000 solar panels, a substation, and battery storage containers, as stage one of an overall larger project that could potentially grow to 30MW in size.

In an electricity generation licence application submitted to the Essential Services Commission of South Australia, Tetris Energy – which is a subsidiary of Tetris Capital – says it is arranging funding for the proposed project, which it plans to build, own and operate.

“Mannum Solar has entered into Power Purchase Agreements for both the electricity and the LGCs for the full output of the project,” the application notice says. “These offtake agreements give the project revenue certainty.

“Revenues from these contracts will flow back to Mannum Solar to cover operational costs and a return to the initial investment.”

RenewEconomy is awaiting confirmation from Tetris Energy of who the PPA is with, and will update the story as soon as it is given.

Construction, operations and maintenance of the Mannum Solar Farm will be managed by Canadian Solar.

Nearby, another 5MW solar project – the $8.5 million Mobilong Solar Farm by Indonesia-owned Terregra Renewables – was set to begin construction this month, on disused farmland north of the S.A. town of Murray Bridge.
