PRESS RELEASE

Sydney, Australia – 27 March — Schneider Electric, the leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation, today announced it is joining the Electric Vehicle Council of Australia, and calling on Governments to fast-track the electrification of transport in Australia.

The Electric Vehicle Council is the national body representing the electric vehicle industry in Australia and its mission is to accelerate the electrification of road transport for a sustainable and prosperous Australia.

As a member of the Electric Vehicle Council, Schneider Electric will share its globally sourced insights and local experiences in planning and rolling out EV infrastructure in cities and homes.

“At Schneider Electric, we’ve been at the global forefront of developing end-to-end electric vehicle charging and microgrid solutions needed to make widespread access to electric vehicles a reality,” said Laetitia Odini, EV Solutions Marketing Manager at Schneider Electric. “The mobility sector will have the opportunity to develop new business models based on the new uses and services associated with EVs as decentralized energy resources.”

“Our overseas experience shows that the national Government has to play a strong role in developing the EV transport sector. In Australia we want to improve the mobility experience and to help create a more sustainable future. Electric vehicles will play an increasing role in decarbonizing transport and further electrifying our society. Our vision aligns strongly with the Electric Vehicle Council.”

“We fully understand the responsibility that large businesses share in advancing the electric vehicle market. There is also a critical need for Governments to provide targets and leadership so business can properly plan the investment required to meet those national targets.

“It’s up to business and government to shape a sustainable future. Helping to increase accessibility for EVs, and to improve the public’s understanding of electric vehicles will lay important foundations, which is why we’re delighted to be a member of the Electric Vehicle Council,” Ms Odini said.

Behyad Jafari, Chief Executive of the Electric Vehicle Council, welcomed Schneider Electric’s commitment, “As the national body representing the electric vehicle industry in Australia, we welcome and recognise Schneider Electric’s ongoing contribution to the advancement of EVs in Australia,” he said.

“For us, it’s imperative to bring together a broad coalition of representatives across all industries, from both the public and private sector. As a leader in the energy management sector, we look forward to the innovative perspective Schneider Electric will bring to the issue.”

Schneider Electric is currently involved in a number of projects within the electric vehicle industry, including having deployed EVlink electric vehicle chargers for the Queensland Electric Vehicle Super Highway, as well as a partnership with the City of Adelaide setting up around 20 electric vehicle charging hubs to promote EV ownership and transport.
