Sarah Palin wants to be Donald Trump’s Energy Secretary – and close the department

When Donald Trump inevitably becomes president and turns the White House into a Mar-a-Lago private country club, who will join him in his crusade to make America a great place to build golf courses again?

The speculation has begun.

While other Republican candidates are distancing themselves from Trump, Ted Cruz spent his entire summer courting him. So there could be a job for Cruz somewhere in the Trump administration — perhaps as ambassador to Canada.

Columnist/performance artist Ann Coulter is the only person who can possibly match Trump’s bluster, making her an ideal press secretary. Since Fox News is already the backbone of Trump’s candidacy, CEO Roger Ailes would be the perfect chief of staff. And outspoken billionaire Mark Cuban, who once proclaimed that he is “bigoted in a lot of different ways,” would be crucial to diversifying Trump’s fearmongering.

And what about a cabinet position like energy secretary? According to Sarah Palin, Sarah Palin is the perfect candidate for that job.

Speaking to CNN this morning about the coming Trump presidency, Palin declared her wish to lead the Department of Energy.

“I think a lot about the Department of Energy, because energy is my baby — oil and gas and minerals — those things that God has dumped on this part of the earth for mankind’s use instead of us relying on unfriendly foreign nations,” explained Palin.

Palin’s first priority would be to ensure that she is one of the few people left working at the agency.

“If I were head of that, I’d get rid of it,” she explained. (Along with funding energy-related programs, the DOE manages the country’s stockpile of nuclear weapons and waste — no word on who would be tasked with that job.)

“I’d let the states start having more control over the lands that are within their boundaries and the people who are affected by the developments within their states. If I were in charge of that, it would be a short-term job, but it would be…really great to have someone who knows energy and is pro-responsible development to be in charge,” said Palin, speaking to CNN’s Jake Tapper.

Donald Trump has not come out with a detailed energy policy platform — his only official campaign position is to build a wall between America and Mexico — so Palin would likely have a lot of freedom to dismantle the DOE and figure out new ways to dig up America’s national parks.

And when Putin rears his head, there’s always bombing the hell out of his oil fields.
