Meridian Energy announces new Chief Executive of Meridian Australia

Meridian Energy today announced that Jason Stein has been appointed as Chief Executive for Meridian Energy Australia and Powershop Australia.

Jason will officially start his new position in Melbourne on 1 January 2020.

“I am delighted to appoint Jason Stein to the role of Chief Executive for Meridian Energy Australia,” said Meridian’s Chief Executive, Neal Barclay.

This role is accountable for Meridian’s subsidiary Powershop Australia and Meridian’s Australian renewable generation business.

“Having worked for Meridian for almost 12 years, Jason brings a wealth of knowledge and experience across all aspects of Meridian. It is exciting to be able to leverage Jason’s experience and skills within the Group.

Previous to this role, Jason was General Manager of the Office of the Chief Executive, where he was General Counsel and Company Secretary and was accountable for the Sustainability, Legal, Regulatory, Government Relations and Communications functions.

“I have full confidence that Jason will drive our growing Australian business and keep a relentless focus on excellence for our Australian Powershop customers, something which is setting us apart in a highly competitive market,” adds Barclay.

Jason will relocate from Wellington to Melbourne in the New Year with his young family.
