Graph of the Day: 10 indicators of a warming world

Published by

In its latest analysis on global warming, HSBC asks the question “have temperatures peaked?” And then answers it, with “No, we don’t think so.”

The report, by HSBC analyst Zoe Knight, examines the indicators used by scientists to monitor the effects of climate change and finds them “all moving in a direction consistent with global warming.”

Those going up are surface sea temperatures, marine air temperatures, changes to sea level, lower tropospheric temperatures, ocean heat content and specific humidity readings (charts 2-8). Heading down are arctic sea ice, glacier mass balance and Northern Hemisphere annual snow extent (charts 9-11).
