Australia rooftop solar market remains static with 56MW installed in April

Rooftop solar installations in Australia remained static in April, and are tracking 11 per cent behind last year’s figures for the year so far, according to the latest SunWiz Insights report.

A total of 56MW was installed in the month of April, taking the total to just over 200MW for the year so far.

The report finds that the average PV system size continued to recover over the month, as commercial installations grew more rapidly than residential. Volume in April fell in the 5kW range, also in the 30-50kW range, but increased in the 75+kW range, the report said.

Driven by growth in residential solar, Western Australia again led installations, while volumes also rose in NSW, but fell in Queensland.

Overall, the commercial market charted a slight decline, and volumes remain well behind peak levels.
