Tilt Renewables is set to end Australia’s year-long wind investment drought after securing a new power purchase agreement (PPA) and a $2.25 billion refinancing deal.
The company signed a 15-year PPA with AGL Energy for its 108 MW Waddi Wind Farm, located 150 kilometres north of Perth.
The deal follows another recent PPA with AGL for the 275 MW Palmer Wind Farm in South Australia.
Together, the projects could reignite wind development in Australia, which has stalled through 2025 amid investor preference for solar and battery hybrids.
Tilt CEO Anthony Fowler said a final investment decision for Waddi is expected within weeks, with operations targeted for late 2028.
The $2.25 billion refinancing from domestic and Asian banks will help fund these projects and strengthen Tilt’s development pipeline.
The financing signals renewed confidence from lenders in Australia’s wind sector after a year of hesitation.
AGL, one of Tilt’s shareholders, said the Waddi deal is its first long-term wind PPA in Western Australia and part of its plan to expand renewable supply.
The project will create more than 150 construction jobs, six permanent roles, and $3.9 million in community funding.
With multiple projects advancing, including the Palmer and Liverpool Range wind farms, Tilt is positioning itself at the forefront of Australia’s wind energy revival.
