Australia is among the easiest places on the planet to be green and competitive
Global renewables giant European Energy says Australia is one of the best places in the world to be “green and strongly competitive” at the same time.
The company has a renewables pipeline of more than 60 gigawatts (GW) across 25 international markets, around 9 GW of which is under development in Australia.
That includes the 1,100 MW Upper Calliope solar project, one of three projects contracted by Rio Tinto to help power its Queensland smelters and refineries.
European Energy CEO Knud Erik Andersen has said that while Australia is politically divided on energy, industry has already made its choice.
European Energy completed construction of its first Australian solar project, Mokoan solar park in Victoria, just last month.
The company has one wind project in its Australia pipeline – the Aldoga Wind Farm in Queensland – and has plans to build more.
