Squadron Energy has started pouring concrete foundations for the 69 turbines at its 414 MW Uungula Wind Farm in NSW.
The project is currently the only wind farm under construction in the state.
Squadron says 11 turbine foundations are already poured.
Anchor cages are being assembled ahead of steel installation and more concrete works.
Once finished, the wind farm will power more than 220,000 homes and cut 560,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.
Uungula will be NSW’s largest wind farm, though bigger projects are coming.
These include Squadron’s 700 MW Spicers Creek project and Origin’s 1.45 GW Yanco Delta development.
Uungula’s lone progress highlights slow wind development across NSW.
Several other wind projects secured federal Capacity Investment Scheme backing but haven’t begun construction.
Turbine components for Uungula have arrived in Newcastle, with on-site delivery expected early next year.
