Australia can claim the title of having the most solar installed per capita of any country in the world, ahead of the Netherlands and Germany.
The latest report on global PV Markets published by the International Energy Agency and Photovoltaic Power Systems Program puts Australia top of the table with just over 1.1kW (1,166W) of solar per person at the end of 2022.
However, Australia only ranked 9th in terms of solar capacity produced in 2022.
China was the star of the global market in 2022, with its own market growing at “a remarkable rate” to install 106GW.That was up from 55GW in 2021, and accounted for a massive 44% of the global market.
The report reveals that globally at least 240GW of PV systems were commissioned in 2022.That takes the world’s minimum installed cumulative solar capacity to 1,185GW by the end of 2022.
