New research shows Australia faces a massive challenge to electrify over 10 million homes across the country and make them energy efficient.
40% of people surveyed were unfamiliar with terms like ‘electrification’ and ‘decarbonisation.’
A further 60% said they don't have access to adequate information, while 40% said the task of electrifying is overwhelming.
The research identified three main barriers hindering household electrification and decarbonisation: trust, affordability, and information.
91% of those surveyed say they only want to use tradies who are funded by a government program of accreditation, and 93% want consumer protection baked in to the program itself.
Even though 70% of people struggle to afford the upfront cost of making home upgrades, the main reasons people transition to solar are financial - reducing their bills, reducing costs, and increasing home value.
