W.A. government makes new board appointments at state energy utilities

Energy Minister Bill Johnston today announced the appointment of Samantha Tough as the Chairperson of Horizon Power and welcomed Peter Clough as a non-executive director of Synergy.

Ms Tough has a distinguished career and extensive experience across the energy and resources sectors, including at the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, Synergy and Woodside.

She has detailed knowledge of regional Western Australia and has served on the boards of several businesses and non-government organisations.

Mr Clough brings over 30 years of experience in the mining and resources sectors, and was previously General Manager of Government Affairs at Woodside Petroleum.

He has also provided consulting services to some of Western Australia’s biggest firms including Alcoa, BHP, Santos and Telstra.

Mr Clough succeeds Ms Tough as non-executive director.

Synergy non-executive director Kim Horne has also been reappointed for another three years.

All appointed roles are effective immediately.
