W.A. energy minister welcomes new directors of Western Power

PRESS RELEASE

Energy Minister Bill Johnston is pleased to announce changes to Western Power’s board, with the appointment of two new members: Guy Chalkley and Kathryn Barrie.

Mr Chalkley’s appointment is recognition of his performance in managing Western Power since his appointment as Chief Executive Officer in 2016.

The appointment reflects his previous contribution to board level discussions and his extensive financial management knowledge from across a range of sectors and continents.

Ms Barrie joins the Western Power board bringing almost 18 years of experience from energy and education in the Western Australian State Government, including from her current senior role at the WA Department of Treasury (Public Utilities Office).

Mr Chalkley will remain in his position at Western Power but, due to his appointment to the board, his title will change from CEO to Managing Director.

The new appointments will enhance the board’s skills and capabilities and help guide the utility through continuing change in the energy sector.

Comments attributed to Energy Minister Bill Johnston:

“On behalf of the State Government, I would like to congratulate Guy Chalkley and Kathryn Barrie on their appointments.

“I believe Ms Barrie and Mr Chalkley’s experience and knowledge will be a valuable addition and will continue to enhance the strong governance at Western Power.

“Both have outstanding records of evaluating opportunities in the energy sector to deliver the best outcomes, financially and practically, for customers in Western Australia.

“I have no doubt that the refreshed board will continue to help shape the utility to deliver the energy needs of Western Australians.”
