Liberal Party leader Sussan Ley has cast her vote in The Guardian’s 2025 Australian Bird of the Year – for the endangered Australasian Bittern. But given her record as former environment minister, including support for coal projects and opposition to climate and renewable energy policies, the choice raises questions.
