Tilt boosts its renewables fleet to 1.8GW with acquisition of NSW wind farm

Australian owned developer Tilt Renewables says it has acquired the Boco Rock wind farm in New South Wales, a decade after stage one of the project was first commissioned southwest of Nimmitabel in the Snowy-Monaro region.

The 113 MW wind farm has been in operation since 2015, consisting of 67 turbines. A proposed second stage, which has been assessed and approved by the state department of planning and environment, is expected to consist of a further 20 wind turbines.

As part of the proposed expansion, newer turbines with longer blade lengths and taller towers would be used to increase generation efficiency and production.

Boco Rock Wind Farm was initially developed by CWP, and is managed by Squadron Energy, which bought CWP and is now part of Andrew Forrest’s growing renewable portfolio. In 2012, independent Thai power producer Electricity Generating Public Company (ECGO) invested in the project to assume full ownership.

Tilt Renewables acquisition of 100 per cent interest in the wind farm will bring its operational fleet of renewable energy projects to 1.8GW, though full ownership remains subject to regulatory approvals. Tilt Renewables expects to take full ownership early this year.
