Tesla opens first Adelaide store

Tesla is bringing scalable energy products and services including the award-winning Powerwall to customers with the opening of its first store in Adelaide at Westfield Marion.

The store will educate the public on how to generate, store and use renewable energy for their home and provide a one-on-one educational experience on how to integrate Tesla Powerwall and solar to seamlessly power an entire home 24/7. Model X, the safest, quickest and most capable sport utility vehicle on the road is also on display.

Tesla’s retail model, which is direct to customer, allows for future owners of the Powerwall to understand their home or business energy use and learn how they can achieve energy security. Powerwall allows owners to utilise their solar array to its maximum benefit with the recent removal of high feed-in tariffs, whilst also offering the option for back up should there be a grid outage. Tesla’s store extends the investment into South Australia, allowing for residents to take control of their energy, whilst doing so in a sustainable and reliable way.

South Australia have embraced battery technology and as a leader in renewable energy, will be home to the world’s largest lithium-ion battery storage project in the world. Tesla was selected to provide 100 MW/129 MWh Powerpack system to be paired with global renewable energy provider Neoen’s Hornsdale Wind Farm near Jamestown, South Australia where a milestone celebration was held last Friday.

Adelaide’s Tesla retail store is located at Westfield Marion Shopping Centre, 297 Diagonal Rd, Oaklands Park, Adelaide.

About Powerwall 

Powerwall is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery designed to enable self-consumption of solar power and reduce reliance on the grid, as well as for full home backup, load shifting and other grid service applications. It is the second generation of Tesla’s original Powerwall product, which was first introduced to customers in 2015.

Powerwall 2 consists of a 14 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, liquid thermal control system to operate at temperatures ranging from -10 to 50+ degrees, an integrated inverter and software that intelligently dispatches electricity when it’s needed most. Up to ten Powerwall’s can be stacked to accommodate any sized home which mounts seamlessly on a wall or on the ground, indoors or outdoors, and is integrated with the grid to export excess energy, maximising the opportunity for economic benefit.
