Solar-charged charity walk through the Outback

Published by

The Australian offshoot of an international solar products company is sponsoring an unusual trip through the outback.

Renesola have decided to sponsor ‘Camels for Drought Relief’, a proposed camel wagon trek from the Northern Territory through to South Australia that aims to raise money to support drought relief.

The two trekkers, Hannah and Evan, will journey for three months from Alice Springs down to Port Augusta to spread the word about their mission.

The 2,000-kilometre trek will aim to raise money for Aussie Helpers, a charity that supports drought relief across Australia.

The trek started on the 12th July 2014, at the close of the ‘Camel Cup’ and will most likely finish in early November.

ReneSola have provided small solar panels that charge up battery units, which in turn, gives enough power to run LED lights at night or charge their mobile phones along the way.
