The system was installed by Metro Solar, using Enphase Energy micro-inverters and Yingli Green Energy solar modules.
Club CEO Brendon Gale said the ground facilities – which includes a training gym, treatment and recovery clinic, education, workplace and retail spaces, has an extremely large load, most of which is consumed during the day.
The solar system is designed to meet much of that demand. An Enphase system known as “Burst Mode” technology, which initiates during low-light conditions, allows the system to produce additional generation in the morning and late afternoon.
The output will be displayed to the public at the Punt Road clubhouse.
The solar system is part of a broader effort by the Tigers to make their 170-year-old training headquarters eco-friendly. Yingli Solar equipped the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro and Arena Pernambuco in Recife with over 5,100 Yingli Solar PV panels during the FIFA World Cup.
