Renewable energy retailer Flow Power has become the first long term customer for the country’s newest solar farm, signing a deal to take 10 per cent of the output from the recently commissioned 400 megawatt Stubbo facility in the central west region of NSW.
The deal between flow and Stubbo owner Acen Australia was announced on Thursday, just days after the solar farm was officially opened by state energy minister Penny Sharpe. Stubbo is the first solar project awarded an underwriting agreement under the state’s renewable infrastructure roadmap to reach full operation.
Flow says the contract is key to its new expansion into NSW, the country’s biggest electricity market. It promises customers that all their electricity usage is matched with accredited renewable power from local projects.
Flow is unique in that it allows customers the opportunity to support specific generators that they nominate through their electricity plan.
Flow also has agreements with local projects such as the Newstead Energy Project, Hepburn Energy Park, Berri Energy Project, and Clermont solar farm – and now, Stubbo Solar.
Flow Home is available now in Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia. The company says Queensland is coming soon.
“Our partnership with Flow Power allows renewable energy from Stubbo Solar to be directly matched to customer demand,” said David Pollington, the managing director of Acen Australia.
“It’s an example of how new offtake models can deliver shared value, connecting generation to end users, driving affordability, and strengthening grid resilience as Australia accelerates its clean energy transformation.”
