Redflow strikes new battery supply agreement in Europe

Published by

Australian battery technology developer RedFlow has entered into a supply agreement with BlueSky Energy based in Austria, as it seeks to establish markets for its zinc-bromine flow batteries.

RedFlow said BlueSky, an energy storage integrator, has both a direct sales team and distribution partners throughout Europe. It will continue to offer current products as well as the Redflow battery, providing a higher-density energy product at a lower cost.

In addition, a separate collaboration agreement has been signed whereby Redflow will be leasing warehouse and office space from BlueSky to provide a point of presence for the European market.

Empty batteries will be shipped from Redflow’s main manufacturer, Flextronics, and filled with electrolyte, tested and then transported to customers in Europe.

BlueSky Founder and Director, Mr Hansjorg Weiskopf, said the Redflow battery and the containerised offering “is well suited for the German and other European markets. The installed solar base is very high in Germany in particular and we believe the Redflow battery will suit his market.”

“The recently completed Redflow 50kWh containerised solution also provides a compelling business case in selected applications where up to 80V DC power is required. The round trip efficiency of approximately 80 per cent is also a clear differentiator.”

Redflow has formed Redflow Europe, 10 per cent owned by Redflow Ltd and registered in Germany, to service and support its operations in the European market.
