A wind turbine near the coastal fishing village of Ardglass in Northern Ireland has reportedly been “completely” destroyed after a fire was set inside the turbine.
According to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), a single turbine located on the main road connecting the town of Ardglass with Downpatrick “was entered and deliberately set alight” in the early hours of Thursday morning, “completely destroying the structure from the inside.”
Police say they are investigating the arson attack and are “working to establish a motive”, appealing for witnesses or those with any information.
Exactly what wind farm was targeted and whether it was a wind farm in development or operation, is unclear at this time. There were no other independent reports of the incident.
