Norway energy tech expert buys up Melbourne grid consulting company

Independent energy expert DNV announced on Tuesday that they have entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Melbourne-based grid consulting company Clean Technology Partners.

DNV, a Norway-headquartered independent expert in risk management and assurance, is a world-renowned testing, certification, and technical advisory provider for all aspects of the energy value chain.

Announced on Tuesday, DNV expects its acquisition of Clean Technology Partners to expand its market footprint and strengthen its position in the Australian and Asia Pacific renewables and power grids market.

As has been widely demonstrated over recent years, Australia’s electricity system is transitioning away from coal more rapidly than expected. This in turn necessitates the expansion and modernisation of Australia’s power grid so as to accommodate the increasing supply of renewable energy, prevent power disruptions, and reduce costs for consumers.

Clean Technology Partners (CTP), an Australian-based independent engineering consultancy specialising in renewable energy and energy storage projects, was established in 2011 and has since provided engineering services for more than 3GW of clean energy and 250MWh of energy storage projects across the country.

CTP’s decade of experience advising on Australia’s power grid and renewables and storage technology projects will help expand DNV’s presence in Australia and allow it to better support its Australian- and Asia Pacific-based clients.
