Mills Oakley advises on largest solar project in Australia

27 July, 2017: Top 10 Australian law firm Mills Oakley has advised Elecnor on the $450m 275MWdc Bungala Solar Farm in Port Augusta, South Australia.

Partner Luke Westmore and Senior Associate Mary-Anne El-Hage advised Elecnor on the EPC and O&M and related project documents for Stage 1 and Stage 2. Stage 2 of the project reached financial close this week.

This solar farm is the largest solar project under construction in Australia, exceeding the previous benchmark set by the Ross River solar farm in Queensland.

The Bungala Solar Farm project will comprise of 860,000 panels and will occupy around 800 hectares in Port Augusta. Stage 2 will be fully operational by January 2019.

Partner Luke Westmore said “We are delighted to have been involved in this landmark project and to continue advising Elecnor on major renewable energy projects. The size of this project demonstrates the continued strength of the renewable energy sector in Australia.”

Mills Oakley also recently advised a member of a short listed consortium on the South Australian 100MW battery storage tender. Once constructed, this battery will be the biggest in the world.

PwC advised Reach Solar as sponsor, King & Wood Mallesons advised the lenders and Norton Rose Fulbright advised Enel and DIF.
