Local industry briefing for Cattle Hill wind farm

Today, Goldwind, hosted a Local Industry Briefing event in Bothwell to share further details about local opportunities for the Cattle Hill Wind Farm project.

The briefing is part of the Local Business Participation Program for the Cattle Hill Wind Farm project. This Program is designed to identify capability and capacity in the local community and maximise opportunities for local participation in the project.

Ronan Creedon, Goldwind project manager, said Goldwind will be working with key project partners to facilitate local opportunities where feasible.

‘Goldwind aims to create significant local benefit by proactively working with our major subcontractors to facilitate opportunities for local participation during the construction phase for the project. We are committed to local sourcing for the project where feasible.’ Commented Ronan.

Tasmanian civil construction company, Hazell Brothers, will be delivering the full scope of civil and electrical works for the project.

Tom Finney, Hazell Brothers Project Director, said Hazell Brothers has extensive experience in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects in Tasmania.

‘Hazell Brothers is experienced at delivering projects of this nature within Tasmania and we will be looking to leverage local capability where we can. Events like this are a great opportunity for networking and learning more about what the direct local area has to offer.’ Commented Tom.

Construction of the 48-turbine project commenced recently, with the project aiming to be fully operational in 2019. The project is expected to have up to 150 jobs on site during construction peaks on site and employ up to 10 permanent staff when operational.
