British battery optimisation specialist Habitat Energy has been selected to provide services for the new 100MW/200MWh Mannum Battery that is currently under construction in South Australia.
Habitat Energy, a portfolio company of Australian-based global investor Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners, says it has been chosen by Mannum battery owner Epic Energy to roll out its Evolve platform at the new battery asset.
Evolve uses AI-powered algorithmic forecasting and trading to help maximise value from battery assets, which are incredibly complex because of their multiple capabilities and market opportunities.
The Mannum battery is being built alongside the second stage of the Mannum solar farm, and will be targeting revenue from wholesale energy trading and ancillary services markets.
Founded in 2017, Habitat Energy is headquartered in Oxfordshire in the UK but boasts operations in the US and Australia.
Habitat Energy was also chosen by Macquarie Group’s battery storage offshoot Eku Energy in late 2024 to provide optimisation services for the 250MW/500MWh Williamsdale battery energy storage system (BESS) that is being built south of Canberra.
“Battery storage has a vital role to play in the energy transition, shifting renewable generation to times of day when it is most needed and enhancing energy security,” said Clive D’Cruz, Epic Energy CEO.
“We’re pleased to have Habitat Energy as a trusted partner, working to maximise the return on investment from our Mannum BESS and deliver value to our business, the local Mannum community and customers as we continue to grow our renewables portfolio.”
