Graph of the Day: Top 20 rankings for utility solar PV

Published by

An updated listing of the top 20 countries in the world for utility scale solar PV shows that Germany remains top but is being challenged by China, and by the US, which has a huge pipeline of more than 6,618MW of projects.

One suprising new entrant in the Wiki-solar listing is the UK, but while Slovakia, Puerto Rico, Peru, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic make the list – and a mere 18MW is the cut-off point – Australia is nowhere to be seen.

Last year, Australia came in at equal 21st with its one utility scale solar PV power plant  – the 10MW Greenough River solar farm near Geraldton – but nothing has been added since, and little is expected to be added this year. Australia does, however, rank in the top countries of household rooftop solar PV.
