Graph of the Day: Climate change as global security threat

The latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has outlined the key challenges global warming poses for the global defence sector, as it generates new threats to the world’s security, and multiplies existing global threats and instabilities.

As the infographic below illustrates, the IPCC report has predicted climate impacts will threaten global security on a wide range of fronts, including increased water and food shortages, mass migrations in response to geopolitical changes and climate driven disasters, and increased incidence of violent conflict.
