Evoke passes 1 million km emission-free milestone

Australia’s first chauffeur-driven Tesla service, Evoke, has surpassed more than one million kilometres of zero-emission motoring by transporting passengers in its electric vehicles.

In reaching this milestone, the Sydney-based company, founded by Pia Peterson in 2015, has offset more than 325,000 kilograms of carbon emissions and avoided burning 130,000 litres of petrol.

As well as keeping the air cleaner, Evoke’s achievement enables many of its corporate customers to claim emission reductions delivered by the sustainable transport service as Scope 3 carbon offsets.

Regular Evoke passenger Sam Mostyn, who sits on the boards of Virgin Australia, Transurban Group, Mirvac, Citibank Australia, the Climate Council and ClimateWorks Australia, said she was delighted to support Evoke from its early days. “Pia Peterson and her team combine exceptional customer focus with a commitment to zero-emission transport,” she said.

Evoke today operates a fleet of eight Tesla vehicles – five Model S sedans and three Model X SUVs – to convey passengers throughout the Sydney metropolitan area and beyond. A common sight at Sydney Airport, Evoke Teslas regularly make a 400km round trip to transfer guests between Sydney and Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley, an ultra-luxury resort on the western side of the Blue Mountains.

Evoke founder Pia Peterson said she had achieved her initial business goal of creating an emission-free chauffeur service that was loved by customers and environmentally sustainable. “We’re making a difference to the world’s environment, one trip at a time,” she said.

“For example, every time we take someone to the airport, that offsets about four kilograms of carbon emitted by a fossil fuel-powered car. Each of our cars does enough kilometres every year to offset five regular cars which means that our total contribution is off-setting the equivalent of 40 cars.

“Evoke is doing its bit to reduce air pollution near our homes, schools and offices while getting people where they need to go. Vehicle pollution is a significant factor in many respiratory conditions and the sooner we can wean ourselves off fossil fuels, the healthier we will all be.

“Passing one million kilometres of emission-free motoring is a major milestone for us, but it is just the first stage of what we want to achieve. Evoke aims to play a major role in helping Australians embrace electric vehicle motoring and the clean-air benefits it delivers.”
