Energy Insiders Podcast: How to electrify the world with renewables

Christian Breyer from LUT University discusses the newly released study that shows if Paris targets are to be met, everything needs to be electrified and powered by renewables.

Christian Breyer from LUT University discusses the newly released study that shows if Paris targets are to be met, everything needs to be electrified and powered by renewables.

The good news is, as we report here, is that this will deliver an overall cheaper outcome, mostly because renewables are so much more efficient than the fossil fuels now, as well as lower cost and cleaner.

Breyer, a professor of solar economy at the Finish-based LUT – (Finland, he says, gets 24/7 solar power in summer), goes into the detail of what can be done, and what obstacles – mostly political – remain. But he has hope from the series of Friday school strikes.
