Energy Insiders Podcast: Butler says Labor will move quickly on climate and energy

Opposition climate change spokesman Mark Butler says a Labor government will move quickly to put in its climate and energy policies should it win government in the May 18 poll.

In an interview with Energy Insiders, recorded a day before the poll date was announced, said a Labor government would seek agreement with the Coalition on a National Energy Guarantee, but “will not wait” for them to catch up.

Butler also says Labor will move quickly to consult with business on its broader emissions plan, and with state governments and the market operator and institutions on the final design of its energy policy, which will focus on the 50 per cent renewable energy target, reverse auctions, boosted funds for the CEFC and an energy modernisation fund.
